Inspired By Claire from The Breakfast Club.

Inspired By Claire from The Breakfast Club.
The Breakfast Club is an iconic '80s movie about a group of 5 teens who are different high school stereotypes, stuck in detention for an entire Saturday. They hate each other at first, but as the day goes on they break barriers down and realize they have more in common than they thought.

We'll start with Claire. Claire is "The Princess" in the movie and is very popular, but as the day goes on we find out her parents use her to get back at each other, and that her life is not as glamorous as it may seem. Claire has the best style in the film, but it is dated. I knew I wanted riding boots similar to the ones in the movie, so I chose these chic boots from Nine West. The shirt she is wearing is very dated so I made it a basic pink shirt you could find anywhere. I wanted the skirt to be more flowy and loose, and luckily I found that. The belt goes perfectly with the shoes and shirt and has the girly beading Claire would love. I chose real diamond earrings, but if you cannot afford them or just don't want them, feel free to use a substitute.

John Bender is the school trouble maker in The Breakfast Club, and definitely has the best dialogue in the film, and is the most memorable character. He torments Claire throughout the film, but in the end they fall for each other, and she gives him her beloved diamond earring. I knew I wanted to make this outfit basic, and if you have any of these items I would recommend using them. The more worn the better. If you wanted this as a costume I would recommend a diamond stud in your left ear, but if you wanted this as an everyday look, I would not wear earrings at all.

Inspired By Brian from The Breakfast Club

Inspired By Brian from The Breakfast Club
Brian, "The Brain" of The Breakfast Club ends up in detention for having a gun in his locker. We learn, he feels pressure from his parents about his grades.A teacher finds the gun after it goes off. Brian later becomes the voice of the group after writing the famous essay to Mr. Vernon. I wanted to make the shirt more feminine and flattering, so I chose a lightweight green sweater, and more modern, flattering trousers. I liked the floral pattern and color of the shoes, and the geeky yet stil chic bag.

Inspired By Andrew from The Breakfast Club

Inspired By Andrew from The Breakfast Club
Andrew "The Athlete" of The Breakfast Club, is my second favorite character. Andy beat up a nerd to "make his father proud," which is what landed him in detention. He reveals similar to Brian his parents pressuse to be number one especially his father, and that he is truly sorry for what he did. At the beginning he and Claire have a connection because of their popularity, but it's The Basket Case Allison that he really relates to. Andrew's outfit is just a basic hoodie, tee shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes, so I really needed to spice this one up. I chose an '80s style white letterman cardigan, and a blue tee shirt to wear underneath it. I also chose navy blue sweatpants and  wanted to avoid the predictable tennis shoes, so I chose a pair of Toms with red to match the cardigan, and blue the same shade as the tee shirt. I also wanted to add some type of hair accessory, so I chose a red ribbon headband.

Inspired By Allison from The Breakfast Club

Inspired By Allison from The Breakfast Club
Allison the "Basket Case" of The Breakfast Club is my personal favorite character. She does not speak for the first half hour or so of the movie, starts to come out of her shell after talking to Andrew, about how her parents ignore her. Allison's outfits, I believe, were just thrown together, so I wouldn't recommend wearing this unless it is a costume of some sort. Allison is very artistic, so these outfits should have an artistic side to them.  I didn't want Allison to be all black, so I used a see-through cardigan with a gray camisole under it. Allison wore black high top black converse, which will never go out of style. I wanted to add a pop of color so I choose a gray purse with colorful floral beading.

Inspired By Allison AFTER her Makeover

Inspired By Allison AFTER her Makeover
At the end of the movie, Claire gives Allison a makeover where she removes all her dark eyeliner  and does her hair. Many people found this as a betrayal, however I enjoyed it and thought they did a great job. I chose the shirt because I feel it was a more modern version of the one below. The jeans are glittery so they have that femine look, even though in the movie Allison keeps on the same skirt. The headband Allison wears is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E, so I wanted to do something similar. I felt the shoes were very '80s, and matched the outfit so I picked them. When Allison and Andy are walking out, you can see her wearing his dark blue hoodie on her shoulders, so I thought the baby blue one was a cute substitute.
